Remember When

Remember when movie houses had giant screens that covered the entire wall and movies shows cost about eleven cents to see.

Of the first two movies I ever saw, one starred Al Jolson (can't recall the name) and the other was "The Phantom of the Opera." It gave me nightmares.

As I got older, Saturday afternoon movies became my favorite -- no place for adults but sure fun for the kids!

Every week there'd be a new episode of Superman,Tarzan, or Dick Tracy,...

My wife is ready for change after 3 years living here in the south. Though many people may not consider North Carolina "south," I can assure you it is very southern. Not the same southern as Mississippi or Georgia, but rest easy the stars and bars are still a revered symbol.
Not that I am hating on NC. I have come to love my adopted home state. The 3 years we have lived here have been nothing short of wonderful.
We have seen a part of the country we might never have otherwise...

Butternuts

My Wife was 'shucking' butternuts yesterday.
She had gloves on, and was taking the 'skin' off the butter nuts. My Brother in Law is having a huge harvest of the nuts, off of his one tree.

The paw paw tree died on him, years ago, or, we would probably be having that also LOL.

I remembered when my Wife and I went Walnut picking, and I had to take that green rind off of them, wash them off, then wait til they dried properly. Then, I got the job of cracking them...
