ON: Use of Aptitude Tests for Hiring

(Inspired by C-D Thread: "Ridiculous" test requirements for job applicants, June 18, 2014)

Clearly, employers are "trying" to mitigate risk of a bad hire.

They appear to believe that the more (or to greater depth) aptitude / screening tests dig, the better (more positively) the results correlate with a "successful" employee. Make sense?

I am not in HR, or Industrial Psychology, so I do not have data in front of me indicating...

Hell on Wheels: the Series

Been using Netflix to watch the AMC, Hell on Wheels, episodes. In building a railroad through Nebraska in 1886 one sees the beast and vengeance left in men after the civil war.
Like so many modern soldiers the war has warped their minds and their spirit. Now trying to work together to build the railroad one cannot find one good decent person in the whole group. There is no trust, bonds of friendship try to develop but more often than not are broke up with a fist fight.

#AccuracyMatters: Zillow's "Coming Soon" Feature

Zillow is starting a new "feature" that allows agents to post what we in the industry call pocket listings: Properties that are supposedly for sale before they are listed in the MLS.

Pocket listings are prevalent in some markets, and no doubt a lot of buyers see agents negotiating pocket listings on popular real estate TV shows on Bravo or HGTV.

Unfortunately for consumers, pocket listings are full of potential legal and accuracy issues that will add more...
