Recent brain-research backs you up. They are now realizing that teen-era brains, on average, are more active in the 'learning centers' and less in the brain area that recognizes consequences and develops a sense of caution re: certain activities and situations.
Reading that made me appreciate my father's persona of being 'the big NO' that at least cut down the chances my siblings...
