  • KJVC-FM in Mansfield, Louisiana has been dark for several years.
  • Be warned parts of this parish are "dry" meaning they do not sell alcohol. Also if you move to Stonewall the calls for your "parish" needs will be long distance.
  • One hero of the Battle of Mansfield was an immigrant Australian, John Francis Fearn, who migrated to Mansfield, fought for the Confederacy, served as a male nurse on the battlefields, was captured at Vicksburg, paroled back to Mansfield and was the only individual with battlefield medical experience when Mansfield was attacked by the Union. During the battle he worked to save the lives of both Confederate and Union alike, setting up a Mansfield church as a hospital. During the Battle of Mansfield the church caught fire and John Francis Fearn died saving the lives of the wounded from the burning hospital. He is buried today in the Mansfield Cemetery; in an unmarked grave. (see www.acwv.info for his entire story or contact Jim at cracker3 at optusnet.com.au)
