Willow starting to bloom, but we still have lots of snow on the ground, although it has been around 40 during the day for the past few days, then it gets colder during the night. We had rain two days ago, followed by snow in the evening.

Thanks.

The strange thing is that I noticed how pretty these things were only when I looked at them through the camera's lens two or three years ago. They are very small, and one can walk-by without noticing what they look like when blooming. A lot of people, including myself, are a little allergic to its pollen

I use a Canon 40D (just like Warptman), with a Canon 100mm macro lens, from around 12" away for a one-to-one subject size.

Raw only, and process the images with PhotoShop Elements, and save then to TIFF format. To post here and other forums, I change a copy of the TIFF image to JPEG, and then reduce the size to approximately 765 pixels horizontally x perhaps 500 pixels vertically, and reduce it for Web posting to 100KB in size. That way they load fast, and don't look too large on the screen. The only sharpness is on camera. I set the 40D's sharpness one point UP from default.

You will notice that most of my photos have a dark background. Such backgrounds help the sensor capture the most detail on the subject. A light background such as snow, sunlight (sunset, sunrise, snow, white, or reflective objects) sort of blinds the sensor.
