... the bumpers are designed to withstand a 10 mph impact with no damage. ....
I'm going to have to disagree with you on that one. If you drive your car at 10mph into the corner of your house then I guarantee there will be some damage.
I am more than happy to come over and prove this theory for you, using your car and your house of course.

I was referring to bumper to bumper accidents. But I suppose you have a point about those frequent bumper to house accidents in Albuquerque intersections.
Uploaded by TrafficSafetyCltn on Sep 21, 2011 - Dramatic crash footage from Albuquerque intersections, warning drivers of the real life impacts of red light running and highlighting the effects of the city's traffic safety camera program.
I always wait a moment to be certain the intersection is clear before starting from a RED. There are a lot of drivers around here that will run the left turn RED.
I just played the cut. That is not just running a red light. It is speeding and running a red. Are these people nuts, drunk, irresponsible, fearless or all of the above.
I would say probably all of the above. I've always supported the red light camera program here and I'm definitely voting to keep it during the election.
I am not going to debate on this thread (enough of that has been done) but just to note that "Shall Albuquerque continue red light program" was/is on Oct4 ballot as a proposition. The proposition is strictly advisory as the city councilors have the final authority. According to kob 2 of the 9 councilors have said they will support it regardless of the voters intent.
Looks like the majority of folks in ABQ (who bothered to vote) said NO to keeping the Red Light Cameras.
Good deal.
Hope the city government does the same as they claimed the would do.
