and, of course, those glowing, starry-eyed numbers are all just guesses.....we've seen optimistic stuff like that before.....

but, if this does go as planned, could be fantastic for many people.....
OMG...lololol. So true...

Well, that isn't going to happen...and while my guess is you indicating the weather is better...the available market population is much better in a central location like casa grande.

Nearby population is nearly irrelevant when it comes to giant theme parks. Many are in the middle of nowhere.

There is almost nothing in casa grande so it is like starting with a blank slate, this has several advantages the biggest one being the cost of the land is much less.

Really? I know of no successful one that is not within an hour or so of a decent sized metro area. All of the Disney's, Universal Studios, Busch Gardens, Cedar Point, Kings Island, all of the Six Flags, LegoLand, Sea World...all of them are an easy drive to at least one major metro area.

Hundreds of restaurants, hotels and businesses will sprout up around Casa Grande if they build this park, that is how things work. Build it and they will come so they can make money off the millions of people visiting the park. That is what happened with Disneyworld which was thousands of acres of swampland before it was built.

Casa Grande is half way between Phoenix (4+ million) and Tuscon (1+ million) - within an hour of each. Not getting your point.

I would bet the biggest factors in choosing Casa Grande were this central location between two metros, cheap land and easy access (two Interstate highways nearby). Although, if they don't upgrade I-10, it won't be such easy access!

Dewey,

I think Shampoo is saying the same thing you are?! He/She was responding to a poster that suggested being close to a major Metro area did not matter when it came to theme parks and saying it absolutely did - and that all of those other parks mentioned ARE close to metros - as is CG.

As for the rest - agree. CG politicians are fighting HARD to get I 10 widened from Phoenix (it will be completely widened south of CG starting later this year.
