Our power went off at 6:15 PM Christmas and came back on 8:00 PM Thursday. The first thing we learned was that our new fireplace gas logs are for looks, not for heat . We bundled up, then each night went to bed early, under six quilts. Once the "tunnel" warmed up it was O.K., 'till we moved, then start all over again. Stay in bed 'till couldn't stand it any longer then get up into a 40 degree room and start the cycle again.

We talked about the fact that is the way we both grew up in the country and didn't know any other way. "Good old days" my ! I do not miss them!

We got about an inch of snow in the grass. The roads were still warm enough the snow melted. Not sure how the ridge road was that comes here. Maybe patches of ice. I am close to Point 11 on TR Lake in Missouri. My living room recliner looks south at Shell Knob if I could see over the mountain. More snow was predicted for tomorrow so I went to the store today for more salad makins. 15.1 miles one way. Got enough for 5 or 6 days.

Keep warm everyone and HAPPY NEW YEAR to all!

Having lived here off and on all my life I can relate to not missing the "good ole days". I was about 10 years old when we got inside plumbing and didn't have to use the "outhouse" anymore. No fun on these cold days with no heat in the outhouse. LOL

Zero snow for Christmas.

Friday after Christmas we got a dusting in the afternoon. It was gone by Sunday, even in northern Benton County, even in valleys. Then on Tuesday we got an even lighter dusting that should melt away Wednesday afternoon.

The weather channel shows you are getting the weather now with ice and snow.

Stay safe!

We really haven't gotten any bad weather as in storms yet..If we don't in a few more weeks we might have a repeat of last year. We have had a few brutally cold mornings, but so far that is it. I am hoping for one storm and please God bring us some rain...

Is it my imagination or have the weather Gods screwed up this year? first we don't get any real rain, then we get almost all the say through the coldest month of the year with no measurable snow, in fact almost no snow and now we are getting April weather in Jan? What gives and I wonder if todays storms will be as bad as predicted? Oh and add to it, they are now saying a possibility of snow flurries or snow showers tomorrow? I just hope we don't get Jan weather in March!!! Easter is early this year, I would hate to see Easter services cancelled because of snow.
