Good Lord people. If you don't like Arkansas...or Ohio...or Texas...or wherever, don't go there. Simple. Any state can be bashed on an internet forum like Arkansas is on this thread. Every single state has it's problems, it's rednecks, it's bigots. Life is too short to be so filled with hate. Move on. Go away, get a life.

Ok, the "Miss Gay USA" is really confusing me.

C'est la vie! You can't escape yourself. You'll turn on Charlotte within 180 days.

Cedar Springs area of Dallas may have been a match, Montrose in Houston, or New Orleans is now popular. Best of luck in Charlotte.

Arkansas seems to be laissez faire as far as I can tell.

I left Arkansas because I need somewhere where I can be who I am without being ostracized from society, and I am not talking about sodomy as you put it.

The former owner of the Miss Gay USA pageant now lives in Little Rock and owns all but probably two of the city's night clubs.

The only problem Ive run into in Charlotte due to my sexual orientation was with somebody at work who happened to be from Arkansas (go figure!). Yes there are homophobes everywhere but few places are as bad as in Arkansas.

Have you seen "The Crying Game"?

Now isn't Charlotte all about NASCAR and bailed out banks?

It's like a gay version of Miss America pageant where the drag queens from around the country compete. Not my cup of tea really but it's huge in the gay community and is the reason Little Rock has the nightlife it has, as the owner runs not only gay bars but a couple mixed/straight ones as well.

Most Charlotte residents don't even get into NASCAR, but it brings in tons of money from the surrounding rural areas and tourists who come from across the country to see the races. Have never heard of the Crying Game.

This is pretty much a useless thread because anyone with a functioning IQ knows Arkansas is not the best place to live if you're a gay and lesbian person.
PurpleLove, there is more than one Republican that is gay friendly. As for Republicans versus Democrats, it is Ultra Conservatives versus untra liberals, depending on the state. Many Republicas throughout the country are not right wing nuts, same as many Democrats are not socialists like a very few..
