Well it is just a little red dot as they say but for those of us who have a connection it’s a place of memories and family connections.

Well other places in Asia attract more foreigners due to lower costs, larger areas, friendlier and hotter women and men.

8.9% is actually pretty high for a large country.

5.7% is normal for Singapore as it is not easy to get rich in Singapore. But Singaporeans are well educated compared with most countries in Asia. And the medical care is of high standard.

Being hot and having no seasonal variation is not attractive.

Actually I don't have a concrete preference yet. I'm just looking for a place that will be cheaper to live in than Dubai. The cost of renting even a studio apartment here has left us at the poverty level. Don't ever believe the hype about Dubai, it's BS!

Dis OP ever make the move? Curious if he ever made the move and if the outcome was positive.

Currently here on vacation and I must say the obvious, the social scene appears to be really vibrant (I realize that the OP started the thread years ago). Food/essentials seem less costly than US, but I can see how the lifestyle (going out and socializing constantly, shopping culture) may eventually drain the bank account and scare people off unless one comes from money.

It isn’t that easy to access long term residency in Singapore unless you’re super rich or have some unique job skill that couldn’t be filled by a local. On the other hand if you’re mainland Chinese it’s easier. Gotta keep those Malays in the minority.
