Just need to take care of it eventually before it becomes a problem.
You don't ask for $800 million if you don't need it when there are so many other transit needs in the region. Either MARTA's selfishness and deception helped doom the TSPLOST or the system is unsafe and running without proper, emergent maintenance. Which is it?

Here's an idea: have you actually tried asking the agency? Have you emailed your MARTOC rep, or any of the MARTA leadership?

Instead of making wild accusations why don't you try and actually find out?

Back to the topic at hand. The article that CQ posted isn't anything new, other than keeping the story alive.

He could really care less, the only reason he's here is to stir the pot.

I'm sure he couldn't be paid to step foot on MARTA, and most probably never has - which is great news for the rest of us!

My gosh you're like a practice exercise in logical fallacies.
I need a new battery for my car, it's slower and slower to start each time and with Pennsylvania winters coming up, I definitely need a new one. Yet, my car does still work and crank up. Amazing, right? My car still works but I still need a new battery. Grad school doesn't pay that much so like MARTA, I'll have to ask for the money (from my parents). Something can still work (and safely) while still in need of maintenance. The trick is to not wait until a system is unsafe.

So just say it... The $800 million they pleaded for at the expense of current transportation issues weren't required.

Their unnecessary money grab helped sink the TSPLOST and any current transportation needs from being addressed. Well done MARTA.

Sure my car will eventually need new tires, but I'm not running around panhandling for money at gas stations claiming I need money for new tires when my current tires only have 2,000 miles on them.

Some of you will defend MARTA regardless of facts. Do you really think MARTA claiming a need for $800 million for existing services didn't severely hurt the TSPLOST and MARTA's image therefore screwing the region out of progress toward addressing transportation needs?

Maybe MARTA should just ask your mommy and daddy for money.

Yes, it was all a big lie. MARTA's true agenda is to destroy the Metro Area.

Happy now?

The TSPLOST was a confused mess that deserved to fail, and in hindsight I'm kinda glad it did.

No need to worry you got congress to do that panhandling for you by repeatedly bailing out the bankrupt Highway Trust Fund every few years to the tune of hundreds of billions of everyone's tax dollars (regardless of how much they drive).

So there is no middle ground? MARTA's actions weren't intended to destroy the bill, but their selfish money grab had that consequence.

I agree, but I don't think that MARTA's 'leadership' should be given a pass for their ineptitude and selfish actions. Mass transit fanboys like to play off the collective good theme, but in this case MARTA acted in a way that was opposite of funding transit progress in the region. Not exactly acting in the collective good. Someone should have to answer for this. I find it amazing how willing the fanboys are to overlook the obvious flaws in leadership and judgment when the failures lead to their agenda failing. No wonder MARTA has been a dumpster fire for so long. no one, even those who want it to succeed most, are so willing to ignore obvious incompetence.
