Yeah, I think people need to take a step back and look at this in context. City kids, who usually take MARTA every day, usually only pay the round trip fare to go from home to school and maybe to shop. Since it was free, I imagine pretty much every single kid in the city had it in mind to go all over town since it was unrestricted. I know I would.

Now lets step back and imagine what would happen in say NYC, DC, Philly, Boston, or Chicago if their transit systems were free for a day...

Now here's what I find interesting, these kids were described as "roving bands of kids looking for trouble" because they were being loud, singing, chatting each other up, and all the other things teenagers do. While it is annoying, I need everyone to ride MARTA when Music Midtown kicks off and the suburban kids take over Midtown. You will see the exact same behavior, but I doubt they will be described as roving bands of kids looking for trouble.

This is no worse than riding the drunk train home from a Braves game and having to deal with all the frat guys being loud and disrespectful. Not giving their seats up for ladies.

I must agree that Atlanta did very well with violent crimes this weekend compared to Charlotte and Chicago and probably many other cities, especially when you considered 600,000+ people came to visit. However, the incident that happened at UA should not be written off. We should strive to not have things like that occur.

Both are examples of people's lack of respect for others. The difference is these kids are seen as 'thugs' and the frat guys 'just having fun.' I have seen the frat guys get out of hand and almost start a fight.
