"Progressive backlash against Amazon HQ2 is growing. Here's why" (CNN)

But as Amazon's decision (AMZN) nears, opposition to cities' huge packages of economic incentives is getting louder. Groups organizing to pressure local leaders say financial sweeteners are unnecessary due to Amazon's size and wealth, and they think the money would be better spent on services for the community.

I would note that the rural and lesser places voted red as a statement about their local economies.

Like the states of Texas, Georgia, Florida and North Carolina?

While California, despite having Silicon Valley, is bleeding people? Illinois is a basket case. The Northeast, despite all the great universities, is very slow growth. California would be losing people if not for foreign immigration.

I don't think very many people would think Atlanta on par with any west coast city in terms of quality of life. Or any North East city for that matter. If it makes you feel better, many people are not moving to Dallas even though a major Atlanta employer is relocating most employees there. The reason is folks think Atlanta is a better place to live.

And, like I was pointing out, folks in Seattle would not be inclined to move to Atlanta for the exact same reason.
I don't think many people in Atlanta would think any west coast city would be on a par in terms of quality of life. I certainly wouldn't.

If you love living in a place with rude people, strangling pollution, ultra high home prices and 24 hour traffic, you will love LA. If you love dark, dreary, cloudy days with homeless people begging for a handout everywhere, crowded living and ultra high home prices, you will love Seattle and San Francisco.

Scenery and climate isn't all there is to quality of life. And frankly, I think Seattle and San Francisco have absolutely dreary weather. LA does have nice weather.

That description could also fit Atlanta's northern suburbs, these days.

Lol what planet are you on? Blue states are bleeding people. Industry is fleeing. You need to do a lot more research.

No.

Fulton, DeKalb and Gwinnett all got "F" grades when it comes to Smog (Cobb got a "D"), while there was recently a report showing Atlanta has some of the worst traffic in the world.

And a casual look at a Google traffic map during rush hour would show that most of the traffic bottlenecks are north of I-20

In all fairness though, while not quite to north of I-20 levels, Henry County's also getting pretty bad lately.

As far as housing prices, there was a user on here recently who complained about housing in "desirable" parts of Atlanta (code for north of I-20) being expensive and comparable to Metro DC, and there were others who agreed with them.

Folks up here are just as nice as folks elsewhere. There is no strangling pollution. Further, traffic is no worse (perhaps even better) than intown traffic.

Just let Atlanta, which is far from a perfect city itself, be great on its own.
