That said, does it not strike you odd, that African-Americans, in general, don't do the revitalization "thing"? In recent years, you see this trend taking place more often in NYC and Chicago ( areas with cultural significance like Harlem, Clinton Hill, Bed-Stuy North Kenwood-Oakland etc.),but you do not see nearly as much of this in Atlanta.
Collier Heights or Cascade Heights

As for self-segregation...diverse neighborhoods are best, but they may not be for everyone. The key is not EXCLUDE anyone who can afford to live where they choose.
That is because blacks who are trying to get the hell out are running where they feel its safe and nice, and clean. That it our cartoon minds is where whites live. Not understanding that ghetto is not where you live but how you live. Whites on the other hand feels as though this is their country, their, their state, their home. So its nothing to buy property in the city fix it up and move right in. Also beings as though they have the mitus touch that property or section of the city will jump in value, having us ( irony ) trying to move back in the city.

If you can afford to live in Dunwoody or Sandy Springs, you are welcome to live there. Period. End of story. What would you do, force minorities to move into an area that is predominately white? Well, maybe some of you would.
lmao

I'm black and I say that anyone looking to move to Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, Alpharetta, Roswell, etc. may as well move downtown. The traffic and chaos are just as bad and it's just as expensive! I happen to know plenty of blacks who live in North Fulton...plenty.

I'm sure I could afford to live in Sandy Springs, I simply prefer not to.

Ever since this whole thing started way back when (the thread, that is) I've been paying attention (I live in Dunwoody). There are actually a decent number of black people who live on my various running routes (see them getting mail, mowing the lawn, taking out the trash...I've noted at least 4-5 households) and also any day I go to the DHS track for speed work I see black people there every time. Sooooo...I don't really think there's this massive segregation going on. Granted it's not 50/50, but people act like it's lily white here and it's not.

it's really not all that white. There may not be a huge number of blacks there but I know for a fact that there are lots of hispanics and asians there. As of 2009, there really is no place in the metro where it's completely white

That's a good thing. Diversifying things a bit. (Some dont like it, and I laugh at that mindset ).

I live in Dunwoody and I'm black (Sounds like an AA meeting.) I have no idea what the percentage is, but I certainly see black people regularly around and about. I shop all around this area including Sandy Springs, Norcross, Roswell and Alpharetta and I see blacks there too. When I was looking at public schools on various sites they indicated a fairly decent minority representation.

I was watching the news @ 11pm tonight, and there was an unfortunate shooting at a gas station on N. Peachtree Rd in Dunwoody. They interviewed a couple of articulate people about the shooting who identified themselves as Dunwoody residents. They were black, as were other bystanders.

Did the news just bus them in for show?

I have an idea. Lets force blacks to buy houses in these two areas by holding guns to thier head.

Or the government can create a program that gives blacks special loan terms for homes bought in Sandy Springs and Dunwoody. It would entice more blacks to the area to make it 'more diverse.'

That way the PC liberals who are bothered by majority white areas will finally be satisfied. Never mind the fact that racial percentages shouldnt matter, or that maybe blacks dont want to live in Dunwoody or Sandy Springs, or maybe that blacks cannot afford it, or maybe there just arent enough backs for every area to be 25% black. After all, its racist for an area to be majority white.

Dunwoody is 4.4% black, 4.6% hispanic
Norcross is 20.8% black, 40.9% hispanic
Sandy Springs is 12% black, 9.9% hispanic
Roswell is 8.5% black, 10.6% hispanic
Alpharetta is 6.5% black, 5.5% hispanic
