If we're going to introduce new vehicles to congested areas with no public safety campaign at all, then people are going to have to die. It's a price worth paying for a smarter populace. But there's still no excuse for there not being any kind of educational campaign.
How is City Council, regulating private, dockless, personal transportation with a license fee going to stop this kind of behavior?

This thread is not about Gun control, so I refuse to even answer that as it will sidetrack the thread.
The lack of traffic law enforcement is an issue that plagues Atlanta, Bird scooters being no different. Even if City Council passed an ordinance requiring licensing fees, how would it stop this type of behavior? Just like I doubt the Hands-Free Law will stop people from driving with their phones.

So you don't think that ordinances work at all to deter behavior? Do you set a curfew for your kids? I know I do, even if sometimes they break it and sometimes I'm not great at enforcing it. . .

The hands-free law isn't going to correct the problem 100% but, yes, it is changing behavior for a lot of people, and same with the scooters. Have some rules and enforce them as well as we can.

Did I say a single word about regulation? I was talking about safety awareness.

Safety awareness is up to the user. What is your suggestion on how the city can improve that?

Don't be thick. Same way they deal with hands free laws, seatbelt laws, DUI awareness, and other safety concerns.

Lot harder to kill yourself on something that isn't littering every sidewalk in the city.

IDK I see cars all the time parked or pulled into a driveway blocking a sidewalk, and they kill tens of thousands of Americans every year.
