is this really going to happen though? If you don't drive much, say 8,000 miles a year, and cars these days are so well built that if you maintain them they can go 200,000 miles without a hitch. So, that is 25 years of driving I'm not saying it isn't possible but for someone middle aged that is having the same car till their last years.
My neighbor bought a 1986 Chrysler that she rarely drove. I think it had maybe 60K miles on it, but she had to get rid of it this year and get something newer because it pretty much rusted out just sitting in the driveway for 30 or so years and barely moving. She's in her 80's
I actually tried to buy it off her thinking it was a low-use peach...until I almost put my foot through the floorboard.

I own a 3 cars. One car is garaged kept to protect it from the elements. I put about 4-5,000 miles a year. I make a point of it to drive it at least twice a month. I use a battery tender to keep it charged. I maintain the car very very meticulously myself. The car runs like its brand new.
It is possible to avoid depreciation if you go exotic. My buddy suggested to get a Porsche GT3 or Nissan GTR. They probably can sell what you paid for...or close to it. That would mean another car I would barely drive and assuming I would sell it at some point.
Now ask us how often we use our dining room, and what those cost, lol.
Do you really need the good china if you only use it at Thanksgiving?
