I love it, as I'm sick of the Yankee organization buying up most of the talent. Maybe this will start a trend...
If the Yankees had signed Lee and Werth for what they got elsewhere the uproar would be deafening. It is wrong for the Yankees to sign good players but perfectly acceptable for everyone else.
Cool Picture - but clearly not the work of a Photoshop expert! :-) But good job.
Got my spring training tickets today - I'll be going to about a half dozen games. Can't wait - Opening dat of ST is one of the best days of the year - especially now!

No. What I'm sick of is the Yankees buying up an inordinate or disproportionate amount of the talent. If it were just one or two it wouldn't matter much, but they buy up so many players that winning is virtually assured. It takes the fun out of the horse race, i.e., NY is the healthy horse, the rest are lame, and we know who gets to the finish line first before the starting gate even opens. We need more balance in the league, not one dictator.

If they keep Oswalt this team has just been made a strong favorite IMO to reach the WS in 2011.
Mets = now you can go for the 7 year rebuilding plan as you're not going to compete for the playoffs within that time especially with the Philly pitching.
But then again on paper and play on the field? That's why the games are played.
Cliff Lee must really like Philly as he took less $$.
Nice to see the Yankees lose one even with the bigger $$$ they were offering - lol!
Your assuming that all these guys are going to stay healthy and remain effective for the entire length of their contracts. Halladay turns 34, in May. Lee turns 33 in August. Oswalt turns 34 in August. If history is any guide without the use of performance enhancing drugs you'd expect a pitcher's performance to droip off after age 36. Hallady and Lee have both pitched over 2000 major leaqgue innings, and Cliff Lee has over 1700.
Filihok, yes this Phillies staff is in the discussion but to say that they are #1 is crazy to me. I mean, at least ATL's staff 98 staff handled their business in the eye of the steroid era. I'm not taking anything away from this staff, I'm basically saying "Not so fast", when I hear the "best staff_______" talk. Here's hoping that that Philadelphia's offense struggles the majority this (upcoming) season.
So is 110-115 wins realistic given the staff satys healthy?
I am still giddy
No way!
Your assuming all these guys have spot on great years and the hitting doesn't go into a slump. I think they have a great chance to win 100 games.
They are by far the top pick to win the NL pennant.
Can you imagine the dissappointment in Philly if they don't make it to the World Series?
