Please, there was a small fraction of talent back when Russell played compared to recent decades. Russell was offensively challenged and you're talking GOAT? I doubt he was any better then Ben Wallace. You're just stuck in nostalgia land.
Olajuwon and Shaq to name just 2 would have used him like a rental car.
As a kid I saw Russell play several times. The mention of Russell as the GOAT just reinforces my opinion that he's the most overrated basketball player of all time.
Russell was great, there is no doubt about it. The greatest winner of all time!! But GOAT?? If I were starting a team from that era, I am starting my team with Wilt Chamberlain.
I just wonder how Russell would have faired if he played for a team other than the Celtics??

Same as he did in the Olympics' and collage............WIN
Duncan's statistics were gaudy when you reflect pace of play and efficiency.
Let's not confuse the sh*tty use of statistics by someone with no training in it with solidly analyzing players for numerous variables. People abuse stats all the time and sports and politics are the two worst places.

He was he 2nd most dominant center of his era so he still would have been great but there would have been no doubt that Chamberlain was by far a better player.
Curious that the term sports GOAT is now a good thing (greatest of all time). I recall when the term applied to the guy who let his team down in the big game or series, especially the MLB World Series.
Who just averaged a triple double two seasons in a row??? Either I've entirely missed it, or you're smoking something.
Russell Westbrook
