Thanks. Yes, I see it that way. There seems to be a disproportionate number of fellow Alaskans who have done or are doing something similar. Granted, it's not exactly what many people think of when they envision a home in Hawaii. I can also appreciate the homes with ocean views. There are some amazing pieces of real estate on the islands, for sure. I don't think a big house would have much appeal for me though, not even on a multi million dollar ocean front property.

Regarding pig traps, my experience and that of other people I know is that the standard varieties don't work because the pigs are too smart for them. With the right kind, however, this is the best way to go.

Dogs and knifes: I don't see that working very well in thick jungle either, or with a large boar. Quite sporting, for sure, but also very dangerous for both dogs and hunter.
