San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Carmel, Monterey, San Diego, Carpenteria, Montecito, Cambria. I would easily move to any of these places, but definityl the small towns win for me. SAn Luis Obispo is 40k people plus Cal Poly Sate College, great town!

Yes I grew up in San Luis Obispo otherwise know as SLO to the locals. Do not call it San "Looey" Obispo, it will make the locals scowl
SLO is an amazing place, has a great population of college students that keep it young. I have been away formt he city for seven years now and I hear it is getting a little snobbish, turning into a small Santa Barbara because of the high cost of homes...making it harder for oyung families to lie there. Thursday night the entire downtown shuts down and vendors sell fresh produce and great BBQ, there is live music and the people watching is great. Go during the spring and all the college girls in spring dresses will help you believe in god again

I want to change mine.
I would buy an oceanfront home in Laguna or Newport Beach. Then a second home more inland "just a bit" with some land.

Some places...
- Santa Barbara
- Malibu
- Carmel-by-the-Sea
- Cambria/San Simeon area
- Solvang
- Laguna Beach
- Ojai (east end near estate land)
- Montecito
- SLO (gorgeous setting)
- Palos Verdes/Rolling Hills
- Pacific Palisades
- Hollywood Hills
- "Golden Triangle" area
- Morro Bay
- Coto de Caza (but am also bothered by it being developed in mountain lion territory. I will always have dogs)
- Rancho Santa Maragarita
- Monterey
- Marina del Rey (gorgeous condos near water)
- La Jolla
- Pasadena (especially South Orange Grove Boulevard or other scenic areas)
