As the lock down continues, thought it would be useful to keep track of businesses and organizations that have had to close or layoff people in California due to the state imposed lockdown.

Yet, Greasy Gavin has no problem giving money to illegals and securing motel rooms for the homeless. also, he suspended the WARN Act so employers can have a mass layoff without having to provide 60 days notice. But, hey he cares so much about the low to middle class. Vote the cult leader out. He actually laughed, I think it was on Thur/Fri talking about the record number of unemployed in the past week. People here will never learn.

Newsom hasn't handled the lockdown well and is pretty much wrecking the California economy, but I will say the WARN act suspension does seem to be legal. Two of the exceptions that allow companies to bypass WARN include "natural disasters", and "unforeseen business circumstances" which I do believe Covid-19 falls under.

Newsom should look at Governor Abbott in Texas to see how to do a measured reopening. A selection of industries, including restaurants, malls and movie theaters, are allowed to reopen at 25% capacity. Mask and social distancing guidelines still in effect. The entire state has only had 884 Covid-19 deaths and has been reopened almost a week (LA County has had 2,254 in comparison, total lockdown).

Yeah, I know the suspension is legal and carries no weight if someone were to challenge it. Shhh. That’s Texas though. It’s a backward thinking state to many on here and with many people I know in life. Interesting, many doctor friends at Scripps who were making $1M or more are finally complaining because they haven’t been able to do any surgeries. Who did they vote for? Yep, you got it. I said funny, it’s great to be a liberal until it impacts you. Hope most people start feeling the same way and get this idiot out. Just wait until he increases taxes.

Can you separate out those that are lost due to shutdown and those lost by lack of business? For instance I wouldn’t go a large crowded even now even if I could. Not fly or travel or probably even eat out.

^^ He won't be able too, he also won't be able to quantify lives saved because of the shut down.
Could we have been as bad as NY if the state were to not have lock down? Don't know. But it is interesting that Texas and Florida have lower numbers than CA but then again the cities are much less dense.
