Your statement is mind-numbingly wrong.

Since 2010 the U.S. population grew by 5.7% and California's population grew by 6.1%. A state does not have to have a declining population to lose seats, nor does it have to have a population growth rate lower than the national rate or median amongst states. CA population growth outpaced the U.S., but it still lost a seat.

And how could one manage to do that? If you're in California most of the year, then you'll either be renting a place there or living in a purchased home. California's notorious FTB would on your butt like white on rice!

California FTB agents (not to be confused with Russian FSB agents, although they act somewhat similarly) are known to travel out of state frequently to catch tax avoiders. They'll send surveillance squads to monitor your out of state house just to be sure you're actually living there (if you're a wealthy former California resident who is now claiming to have moved out of state). If you moved your business out of California to a different state, then you can bet the FTB will be monitoring that as well, and will likely try to find some loophole to force you to keep paying taxes. You can't mess around with California's FTB, they're worse than the IRS, and they're known to be the most aggressive tax collecting organization on the planet.

Here's a good example of how crazy California's FTB is:

Why? How many more millions of people will be satisfying? Traffic isn't bad enough? Finding it too easy to find parking spots at the beach?

This idea that the first population decline in 100 years is a bad thing is false. What we want is a very stable population. We don't want to add 1-2% every year for the next 50 years.

So you move to Texas - and they find out you’re a former Californian …. And they take your vote away. NICE. Oh - and they can’t keep the lights on. And their power grid is failing.

Or you move to the South and you figure out that public health protection measures are nowhere to be seen and COVID strikes you. NICE.

As for “middle” income people leaving…. We’re middle income (last income statement before taxes was $62K) that moved back TO California. Lucky for us our housing costs were covered. THAT was key for us. We know what it takes to survive here - and have a comfortable living. We’re living on the SAME MONEY we lived on in Utah.

We just don’t have the church controlling/nannying our lives. And we don’t have BUSINESS PEOPLE running Public Health.

The reason Republicans will never rule California and the State Legislature again is that they are very bad at it. And people know it. We have very long memories and scars to prove it.

Then stop allowing illegal immigrants every freaking year across the borders.

Even more concerning are the numerous businesses, both large and small, that are leaving for Texas and other states.
