The Governor expects that natural gas will be banned in California soon.
First, he will ban heaters, then stoves, then "clean-air" buses...

I be curious whether Southern California Gas is the cheapest of the big three compared to neighboring San Diego Gas and Electric as well as PG&E?
As I know Southern California Edison is usually the cheapest of the big three for some reason. Even though they were also affected by the SONGs shutdown.

James Gallagher is our republican congressman in N. California. He sends out several e mails every month. I agree with him on the subject, but no one explains what is the reason for the huge price difference.

"If you noticed your utility bill double or even triple recently, you’re not alone. Prices for natural gas are skyrocketing, especially in California.

Like most things in our state, natural gas prices here are up to five times higher than the national average. These costs hit families especially hard in the winter months when we warm our homes."

For natural gas it's the same. They just pass through wholesale costs

I be curious how does Southern California Edison keeps its rates lower than it’s neighbor to the north and south even those it should suffer the same issues including the loss of SONGs nuclear plant and needing to buy power from elsewhere?

We have been cutting back on this production because of global warming concerns which was self inflicted error. But that would not be so bad if we had better pipeline capacity to the rest of the country. Natural gas prices are much cheaper in Texas and the Gulf because they have great pipeline capacity. While there is cheaper natural gas out there, it is expensive to get it to California. If we can't pipeline it in, we can import it by ship, but natural gas prices are so high in Europe right now, that the ships would rather sell it in Europe than California, so it is tough to get ships to bring it into California. That is why prices are so much higher in California than Texas and the Gulf.

The more rain we get, the more hydro the state can produce and that hydro can substitute for some of the natural gas, less demand for peaker plants. Some industrial users can switch back and forth between gas and electricity based on what is cheaper too. Lastly with portable eletric room heaters, some residential demand might be able to shift to to eletricity if that is cheaper than gas for heating where these people live.
So now you are blaming those Texas pipeline companies not pushing more gas? No the reason is simple you dont have the supplies and its storage -

But i guess you think we can snap our fingers here is Texas and build another gas line to Calif? Humm guess who has stopped almost all pipeline work in the US? One jakoff - bidden

SDGE buys natural gas via Texas and New Mexico - and there power is generated by - tada natural gas generators owned and operated by SDGE - Again they cant store NG because of the enviro wackos and news so they have to buy NG on there open market or with futures that a volatile. again they had lots of low cost power by nuke but it was shut down
