While I'm generally a little right of center like Elon, this is absolutely true. Texas companies barely raise any VC, they have severely outdated noncompete rules, which reduces employee mobility, and they tend to favor things that are already established rather than embracing the new. This has been noticeable with EVs, which many there see as fruity left wing pipe dreams, not the foundation of a massive, more technologically advanced industry. Moreover, nearly one in five cars sold in California in 2022 was an EV, it's not a dream anymore.

Texas is also pretty bland in terms of scenery, I go there often enough and feel badly for them at times. It looks like Kansas except for Hill Country which we wouldn't make a big deal about here.

What Texas does that California doesn't is accommodate the middle class. Our problem here is misguided, unrealistic, at times corrupt leadership that can't deal with social challenges, and has no idea how to serve the middle class. California is unintentionally great for upper income earners with some of the most interesting jobs around. Texas is much better if you're an everyday middle class worker with a typical job and just want to focus on your family or other things.

All winds have been blowing in CA’s favor for a long time, and it’s not hard to see why. It’s great here, and crappy there. The statehouse needs some (most) of its more radical social justice initiatives reined in, prop 47 needs to be reversed, and we need legislators who recognize that decent housing is not created by government fiat; it is made by fewer laws, not more.

As I’ve been saying--and captains of industry like Musk know--the 500,000 leaving CA are not the talented engineers, thinkers, makers, and doers.

I was recently in Taiwan talking to a TSMC engineer about the huge semiconductor manufacturing plant being built in Arizona, near Phoenix. He said that the biggest issue they are having is finding local talent. No matter how many incentives they offer, very few of the skilled workforce at the current TSMC in Taiwan is willing to move to Arizona.
TSMC requires potential Arizona workers to spend 2 years in Taiwan, so the problem with talent works both ways.

No. Liberals lost their minds due to TDS and ran to the left. I posted a picture to make it easy for you to understand.

Also, I see some posts have been deleted recently. Some of the other posters must be hitting some nerves.

I wouldn't be surprised if the state dropped the frivolous racism lawsuit they had against Tesla to get him to come down. Those lawsuits are little more than shakedowns

100% True.

Texas is a total non factor when it comes to tech innovation start up development. I have always found that very bizarre.

And you think you're coming here to preach to us about something? Like Texas is better? LOL create something then we'll talk, until then you're a cheap alternative. Good for you.
Tech's roots all started with a Texas Company named TX Instruments who invented the Silicone Chip, but there has been a lot of Tech developed out of TX, Dell, Compaq, Lockheed, Bell, many others.

Besides CA is nothing more than TX but 30 years ahead of the game. CA attracted the people to move to the state and it is no longer Capitalist Friendly. The new Innovators are leaving the state for greener pastures.

Fix your outrageous taxes and stop suing companies. CA is no longer a place to open or run a business.

Innovators? Nah, tech is still king, and their kingdom is the Bay Area.

haha Texas is a total non-factor in innovation tbh.

California has singlehandedly kept this God-forsaken country relevant and competitive in tech if we're being honest. Our competition is not Texas, it's China and India. Please remember your place.
