Palo Alto again, their former HQ. LOL I would have preferred he and his company stayed in Austin but I guess he knows where the EV industry's best and brightest engineers live.

I seem to remember Tesla at the time of their move saying they were not going to abandon California and would still expand in the state, but are just moving the HQ. So this shouldnt be surprising. this kind of move should be applauded not spit on, especially with all the tech cuts happening in the Bay. Tesla might capture a few of those people with this new HQ.

His main HQ is still in Austin. Main reason for moving that was inability to scale in the bay area.

Good to see Newsom has temporarily stopped attacking productive companies.

So Austin's functions have been reduced to HR and Customer Service?

Lol that sounds like a back office.

Nope, he was mad that he couldnt boss around local govt leaders.

Google and Apple are scaling up massively in the bay area, AI is now taking the region by storm, Musk left in a huff because he wanted to treat workers like crap at will, he cant do that here.

Now he's forced to return Tesla's most important teams to Palo Alto because the talent here is incomparable. We know that already.

I find that SOOOO HILARIOUS

Musk said the new facility is “effectively a headquarters of Tesla” and that it’s “kind of a dual-headquartered company.” Tesla’s main headquarters is in Austin, Texas.

Tesla's workers are among the highest paid in the world.

Local govt leaders in California had pretty bad response to covid and other challenges (we're also losing a lot of port business to NY and Houston after the supply chain issues), and he isn't exactly the only one who left. 500k have left in the past 2 years, including many companies.

But yes, Palo Alto is still the best for engineering talent, that's probably the main reason for the move

Austin's Tesla campus expansion is much bigger. They just filed to add 1.7 million sq ft of additional space in Austin in 2023.

California has been the most pro-EV state and been at the forefront of the solar/green movement.

Texas has ridiculed it and fought it every step of the way. They want the status of the headquarters and the masthead credit it brings, but they've shown no real commitment to environmental principles or addressing climate change.

Let's not pretend otherwise.
