People tend to forget who fight and die for this country? Usually it's the more conservative base. I would like to call myself a independent / conservative / patriot / enviormentalist / protector of animals etc. I am not a republican or democrat because they both are substandard. I am not a right wing nut but have core conservative views.

Why do people think it is bad for Poizner to say he is anti illegal immigrants? They are a drain on our economy. Think schools and hospitals. How much better would they be without all of the illegal immigrants draining them of there resources. Everyone who recieves government subsidies who is able to work should work. They can take the low paying labor intinsive jobs the illegal immigrants do. If they don't like that type of work they should apply themselves and try to achieve a higher goal. Everyone in our great nation has the chance to do pretty much what ever it is they want. They just have to apply themselves and work (what a concept) for it. I know we have a large enough lower education / economic class to fill the positions left open by the removal of illegal immigrants. The difficulty will be getting them to work becuase they have been given everything for pretty much their entire life by the government and are usally lazy slobs.

I could go on but I know most of you don't view our nation as I do. It's beautiful out today so I'm going to go enjoy it.
"People tend to forget who fight and die for this country? Usually it's the more conservative base". Not sure how you can assume this. I think a very large number in the military are actually Blacks and Latinos [both groups of Americans soundly reject the Republican party due to it's racist base = GOP is "Party of the South"]. Anytime the word "patriot" is mentioned the Teabagger\ radical right come to mind & they are anything but patriot [anti-American militias].

Regarding Poizner, whether we agree or disagree with his anti-immigrant statements [I tend to agree, btw] the convention wisdom is that any anti-immigrant comments come back to bite Republicans in the butt in California. As a Latino, I know the knee-jerk reaction aganist Republicans who use this issue & why Hispanics, as a whole, automatically vote Democratic. Republicans have totally destroyed any chance of gaining Latino votes in California [which are a very large part of the state] when they utter anything anti-immigrant [good or bad they lose].

I am going to sit back and watch the liberal culture in California cannibalise itself . Liberals have absolutely ruined the greatest state in the union . This idiotic state will not even provide water to the farmers to help PEOPLE in order to protect a 2 inch minnow , are you kidding me .

Yes , the libs , financial reality has come back to bite them in the ass and you libs can,t face the music . Excessive taxation has driven businesses and people out , and your nanny state mentality has bankrupted the once greatest state in the union . I know personal responsibility is a difficult concept for you but it does have its virtues .

As if the nanny state mentality is unique to liberals

BOTH parties are to blame for California's mess. This is not a liberal or conservative issue.

Thank you. Any "who's most to blame" rhetoric is pointless. Yes, to be sure Democrats have had a strong hand in shaping California but the voters decide who they want in the state assembly or Congress\ Senate. All this talk of the rotten California politicians seems a cop-out. California is the way it is because that's what the voters have decided. Nobody knew a major world recession was about to hit!

You must be on medical marijuana if you truly believe that , California is with out a doubt the most ideologically liberal state in the union . Ronald Reagan is rolling over in his grave at this failed socialism in California .

I think conservatives whining about liberals is a bigger problem than anything. Conservatives IMO have a way of getting a little crazy when they don't get their way (blowing up abortion clinics and shooting doctors who perform them). Then some of those conservatives leave the state but can't seem to stop complaining about it from afar. It's funny how liberals are blamed for this and that and the conservatives take no responsibility for anything. LOL

oh for heaven's sake, saying conservatives blow up abortion clinics and kill abortion doctors is like saying liberals burn the American flag or march against all wars. There are a handful on both sides that are radical and nuts for that matter. The majority of conservatives do nothing like what you are saying. the majority of liberals don't over-react either. Plus, do you realize not all Republicans are conservative and not all Democrats are nutty liberals?

The biggest thing I see and I have been around quite a while: True liberals are much more narrow minded than conservatives.
