My husband and I relocated from Los Angeles earlier this year and his 16 year old son has come to visit for the summer. We don't really know any parents of teens so we're pretty much at a loss when it comes to find him activities for the summer. We're located in Goose Creek, but we're willing to drive into Charleston to take him somewhere. Can you recommend any weekday activities or summer camps for teens his age? We really would like him to get to know some other kids his age and he hasn't met any other teens in the neighborhood. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
That was my first thought, but his father doesn't want to force him to get a job when he's supposed to be on vacation (he works a part time job during the school year in California).
Charleston has an amazing summer recreation program...online will give you all info and to see what's still available. From sailing to soccer to environmental stuff. Charleston County Parks and Recreation
If he's from L.A. he probably won't think much of the surf out here, but it's worth a try. Check out the water parks out the county parks for him, especially the one in North Charleston.
You're welcome to drop him off at my house. I have so many 16 year old boys here on a daily basis I probably wouldn't even notice an extra!
