I'm not sold on the first point helping Cam in any way as he is a rookie that NEEDED that training camp time, probably more than anyone else on the field during the Panthers first three weeks of the season. Rookie QB's historically struggle, with a full preseason, much less an abbreviated one.
I do believe your 2nd point is good though. The coaches didn't suddenly figure out he can throw 60 yards downfield between the last preseason game and when they opened against Arizona.
Obviously teams early on wanted to force him to beat them with his arm as no one, including me, believed he could. Now, like you said, they have tape on how to slide defenses around and change their looks to give him problems. This is where it would have been nice for Cam to have that full preseason, but even with it, he's a rookie QB in the NFL which doesn't spell immediate success generally speaking.
the first point is valid. All you need to do is look at the stats. Except for aaron rogers, everyone's stats have come back to earth and more defense is being played now. I doubt Cam will throw again for 400 yards this year, unless they get way behind, and I doubt many other qbs will either. After the first 2 weeks everyone was talking about the new NFL blah blah, but it has balanced out now.

Ok, back to football, I with agreed some of your last assessment but I'd be less hesitant to state Cam not having another big game, this is a past-oriented offense. Anything b/w 250-350 yards with 2:1 TD/INT ratio with a ground game b/w 150-200 yards is what they seek. Add a little D and you'll get some Ws.

[sarcasm]So in other words, offense failed during Atlanta?? [/sarcasm]
250-350? Try 237.
2:1? Try 0:3.
150-200? Try 142.
You sprinted to the computer on Sunday to post this, also.
With facts like these, I'd hate to hear your opinions....
Sprinted... I watch the games. Commercial breaks, I play on the internet. Is it too hard to multitask...
Oh to answer your rebuttal (which most likely is coming)... I am fully aware Newton ran for a TD that game. Remember the goal of a QB is to facilitate the ball, not RUSH for touchdowns (47 attempts on the season i.e. league high; typical QB is around 15-16). Thus when it comes to TD:INT ratio it deals with their PASSING ability. As witness above, 0 Touchdowns to 3 Interceptions with a QB rating of 44.6. Thanks for playing
The goal of the QB is to lead drives that end with points. Period.
Cam throws for 400+ and it's a bad thing...
Cam rushes for TD's and it's a bad thing...
Cam throws 3 INT's and it's Christmas in October...
