I can say the restaurant I work at made a ton of money. As the pastry chef I was busy from last Friday until Thursday. We had event after event, pop up cocktail parties for 200 and so on. I got to meet some cool people and worked a ton. So yes I would say the restaurant/retail sector say a good pop in sales.

My girlfriend works at Vida and she got absolutely screwed during the DNC. CNN rented the restaurant and I think they are going to be paid $10/hr for their time. The guests were told not to tip too! Plus they weren't allowed to accept tips.

So the owners of Vida make a ton of money while the servers/others make less than they normally would. Then Vida keeps up the CCN Grill sign so everybody thinks they are closed, so there is minimal traffic to the restaurant.

I feel so bad for my girlfriend as she only works Vida to make some extra money because being a teacher pays poorly. I am disappointed the owners would not think about their employees.

I know a republican voter who owns a condo in uptown. Rented it out and SCREWED the people who rented it out. I could never screw someone over just because they have opposing view points... Maybe I'm too nice...

What exactly did this 'republican voter' do? I know lots of people that rented condos, homes, etc. for the DNC. From what I heard the democrats charged as much as the republicans....

I doubt those dems did it out of political spite though. They drew up a contract without including a parking pass and charged a crap ton after the fact for the parking pass because it wasn't in the contract.

Apparently, some folks weren't happy with the Blake Hotel. Not surprising.

How did your republican friend know that the person they were renting to was a democrat? The people I know that rented places rented to news agencies, etc. and had no idea if the people staying at their place were democrat or republican. It sounds to me like your 'republican voter' is just a jerk.

Just wondering if you think the same thing happened at the RNC?
