WE just received our vehicle tax bill & the value for our Nissan Maxima is much more than what kbb states for retail. Just curious if anyone has done this, and if so, what the outcome was?

Thanks & I will keep this post updated with my progress.

We received a bill stating that we owe $195.70 on our vehicle tax, based on a vehicle value of $16,770. However, we do not feel that this is an accurate valuation of our vehicle.

We entered all the specs of the vehicle on Kelley Blue book’s website, with all of the selected equipment, and the mileage, in excellent condition, our vehicle is valued at $15,085. However, is not in excellent condition, and the body of the vehicle is in “good” condition at best (hail damage). We live in Concord, Cabarrus County, so the tax rate may be different.

It will result in a small difference, but my husband was more motivated to dispute it on the principal that we couldn't sell the car for $16K if we tried, and our vehicle is over-valued by the county.

I did. The county is really good at reducing the taxable value. You should send them evidence of your current mileage and the last taxable value from the previous state/county. Mine was reduced for more than 10%.

if you feel like disputing 15 dollars is worth it, then go right ahead and dispute it.
what's right is right...so if you feel the bill is wrong, file a grievance or something

Do we have to pay property tax on a leased vehicle? Technically, I do not own the car so it is not my property...any thoughts?

Default found the site

Here is a link:

Registered Vehicles (http://www.charmeck.org/Departments/Tax+Collections/FAQ/Registered+Vehicles.htm - broken link)

However, I don't know if I have to pay since I am on a temporary assignment, and my car will be registered in PA.

The site does not answer this question. Anyone know?

Yes, you have to pay county taxes on a leased vehicle. Typically, the leasing co. includes the taxes in one of your bills or sends a notice for payment.
