Went past the University one today and all the lights were out - I just visited their website and I'm not sure how many locations they used to have in N Carolina, but as of today the only location remaining in the Carolinas is in Myrtle Beach.
Somewhere in the last year or so, a place called the New York Butcher Shop opened behind the Chili's on Hwy 150 in Mooresville. I think they had another location northern Meck County too. I see both are gone already.
I never went in the store. Just looking at their website showed me that their prices were too steep for my budget.
Not closing, but cutting back hours. The Rite Aid at the Arboretum is no longer a 24 hour pharmacy (with pharmacist on duty 24 hours). They've cut back to 11:00pm.
Closest 24 hour pharmacy (with pharmacist) in that area is CVS on Matthews Township Parkway @ Sam Newell Road.
Cans is closed. Funny story, a couple of weeks ago, my wifes boss was supposd to have his birthday party there. There Dj showed up to setup on Saturday afternoon. He was told that they sent everyone home and were shutting the doors. They were not even going to tell the party planner. Talk about crappy.
Also, I noticed the Tavern at JR Crickets in Huntersville is gone. Max and Ermas closed there stores in Huntersville and Charlotte last week.
Firenze Italian restaurant on Rea Road in S. Charlotte just closed. I believe one of my kid's teachers received a gift certificate from them for Christmas. I hope she made it there before the end of December
A new restaurant will open in that location in a few weeks: Rudy's Italian restaurant and bar. New management, renovation, etc. I never went to Firenze but I wonder if it was too expensive for that location.
