Has anyone tried Riga's Diner? It's next to Donato's on Monroe Rd, just north of 51. I'm always in the market for a local place for breakfast, and this place is pretty close to my house.

I didn't know it was open yet. Once I try it I will report back.

One note about their website, whoever designed the menu needs to learn some development skills. They posted tiny thumbnail pictures of it that you cannot read.

There's a sign in the window saying "Now Open," but I'm hesitant to try a just-opened place without any reviews. Please post back if you go some time soon! Anyone else already been there?

I stopped here for breakfast this morning. Nothing special--waitress need lots more training. She asked me twice about my bread choice. I was half way done eating and she still did not bring me my toast. I had to alert her and the bread came to me cold. I was done and the experience was not pleasant, had to waive for more coffee as well. I won't rule it out, since it's so close to my weekend landmarks. Because its' a diner, I won't dispel that I won't return. For some reason, I don't expect too much for a diner experience.

I didn't like it very much. The waiteress made my milkshake and it was entirely too thin. My wife ordered a bacon and egg omelette and it came without the bacon. I had a hamburger and fries which were just OK. Once the omelette came back with bacon we found it be OK as well.

I didn't think it was very special. My lithmus test for anywhere that I eat is how easily I could make the same dish at home. I could have very easily made what I had there at home so it doesn't rate very high.

Thanks, arussell and bs13690. Too bad you both had subpar experiences. Sounds like I could do those meals at home, too. And it would be hot!
Maybe in a few months they'll have the kinks worked out (if they're still open).

I have been there several times, it's close to where I work and I have found it to be a great place for a quick bite. Their food is fresh and cooked to order so when the place is full it takes a little bit longer to get your order but it sure beats eating fast food or some other place that gets their food out of a # 10 can. The owners are friendly and aim to please. I may be a bit biased since I am also from NY but their Italian omelet and waffles are the best ever!

I went last night and thought it was great for dinner. The food portions are huge for what you pay. The service was a little slow but they were all very friendly and trying to help - I think that's just one of the things that happens when you're trying to get started. I'll definitely go back to try their breakfast sometime.

I have found every experience there delightful. Yes they are new and might have some kinks to work out but the food is fantastic. Instead of ordering a burger (which you could make at home) order something like one of the boomers or wraps.

The owners are great and very friendly, they make you feel like you have know them for years. It is like being family. Nothing better than a family business starting up and doing well in this economy.

If you want a friendly atmosphere and great food, Rigas diner is the place for you!! I saw that they have some early bird specials now, EVEN better!!
