Wonderful parade this morning, but there's still fun and fireworks to enjoy this evening in downtown Waxhaw - from the Waxhaw Gazette (http://thewaxhawgazette.com/):

5:30 pm:
Waxhaw Beach Party & Fireworks (9:30 p.m.)
Featuring the beach music of Mark Roberts & the Breeze
Shag instruction, Kids entertainment (face painter, bouncy, crafts) BBQ, hot dogs, ice cream, Italian ice, funnel cakes and more.

9:30 pm:
The excitement will conclude with fireworks at 9:30 p.m. across from Jackson Station and CVS in Waxhaw. Bring your chair and enjoy a great day and night in Waxhaw

We'll be there tonight, looking forward to it.

Note to those that haven't been, traffic afterwards is a nightmare around the CVS-FoodLion parking lots, be prepared for a pretty long wait afterwards.

I just came up 77 from Rock Hill & traffic is backed up over a mile to Knight's Stadium. The SC troopers are very active on both sides of 77 as well.

I wish I had seen this thread sooner... Waxhaw puts on a great fireworks show and tonight was no exception.

Of course, we start the day with our All-American 4th of July parade at 10am for which, I believe, we had a record crowd today. The Waxhaw Business Association then hosted their first corn-hole tournament at 2pm where some serious corn-holin' prowess was on display. Then, at around 5:30pm, the beach party/festival cranked up with live bands performing right up until the fireworks started at 9:30.

Plan on joining us next year for an old-fashioned, small-town 4th of July!

The traffic does take a little while to clear out but mostly only going through the bottleneck at Jackson Station and even that is pretty clear within about 30 minutes.

If you park and exit strategically and don't mind a little bit of a walk, you shouldn't have much of a wait at all and it still beats the 2-hour delays that have been known to occur in uptown Charlotte!
