Obviously, they don't remember when Reagan and Bush did the same--- you would think Obama was going to make all the children swallow mindcontrol pills. Some of the drivel I have read is unbelievably paranoid.

I remember when my kids watched both addresses from Regan and Bush. I wasn't scared. It's the president for pete's sake.

Seemingly everything Obama touches is like he's putting a fork in an outlet.

Can't say I'm not enjoying this.

Actually, yes. And I didn't appreciate it then either. It was not an issue at my sons schools though because they weren't in public school

Normally, this would not concern me in the least. However, given the Communist and Socialist ties of this President I do not feel comfortable with what he might say nor am I comfortable with the fact that this is just the start of the Government trying to "educate" our young children...colleges these days are bad enough at promoting Liberal Agenda.

My First grader came home with a box with a simple...yes or no check...so she will be busy doing something else and I will do the same for my 3rd grader. I will let me 6th Grader view the speech because she can understand where our family stands with the agenda that the President promotes and I know that she will be wise when viewing and we will discuss after.

My Husband grew up in Communist Russia (his family fled in 1978)...he said this was done as well...usually by a Government official at the start and end of the school year. He was "required" to be a Red Pioneer.

Or maybe some would just rather presidents like those to address their children than this presidential atrocity. If I had kids I wouldn't subject them to Obama if I had a choice. A Reagan-esque president and those kids would be front and center next to a TV.

No need to give your party affliation.
My kids are in high school. We'll get a look at the speech on Monday and all talk about it, just as we would with a newspaper article or listening to a report on TV/radio. We try to give them as much input as we can, from all sides of the issue and from a variety of sources. Of course they know our POV, but they don't always agree. It's more important that they have a solid argument than it is that they agree with us.

One thing I'd like them to watch is this video showing how teachers can easily politicize a classroom. Of course this can happen on either side, there just aren't any videos of a conservative doing this.

My follow up question would be, did you believe there was something to "see through" those addresses as well ?? Or see them as an attempt to use the nation's children in some way??
