Seems like it's been a while, as in maybe a couple of decades, since we have had a stretch of cold coming as they are predicting for the coming week or so. I've also seen at least one weather forecast that claims we are going to have a general heavy snow by next weekend. (yeah I know, believe it when I see it)

In any case my thermometer did not go above 33 today even though it was bright and sunny. Unusual for Charlotte these days.

Here is a local map with a lot of backyard and official thermometers and weather stations imposed over it.

The weather soo far this winter has been a big disappointment for me. I expected temperatures here to be atleast in the mid 50's for daytime highs but it seems like it has been averaging mid 40's which is way cold for me. Maybe I should have just stayed in Southern California? or maybe moved to Orlando instead?

It really is quite unusual for us to be this cold consistently...

In So Cal it's going to be 76 tomorrow with a low of 47.

At least we have winter here which is a nice change and I don't have to shovel snow.

Brrrrrrrrrr it hasn't been this cold in a long time. The last couple a years have been a lot warmer than it was when I was younger. This feels more like the winters of my childhood. I lived in the Triad, not Charlotte. It wasn't cold for long periods like they are predicting this time but it was often cooooooold.

Looks like the wolly worms were right Say it aint so, I saw a black wolly worm

I blogged about my predictions for a cold winter . . . and I wouldn't have done that unless I felt very certain. There are enuff opportunities to look dumb without putting things in writing, lol!! But from the weather patterns I have watched since childhood - coupled with the black wooly worms - I was convinced we were in for a colder than typical winter.

Here's my entry. It is in the feature story section of my blog. As you will see, I didn't mind making the prediction! But I would have been happy to be wrong on this one!
