Personally, I like Friendship Chinese. It's in Logan Square, and not Chinatown (2830 N. Milwaukee) but that's a good thing, as it's a nice break from your typical Chinese restaurant in terms of decor and service. A lot more hip and upscale in feel than your typical Chinatown eatery. It's also BYOB and (relatively) inexpensive.

In Chinatown, my favorite is Emperor's Choice. On the North Side, I like Yen's (on Clark just north of Diversey).

Panda Express is awesome!
(In homage to the poster who recommended P.F. Chang's)
Seriously, if you're down south, head to Chi Tung at 95th and Kedzie in Evergreen Park. This is a rare, real Chinese restaurant, not a take out chop suey place. Massive menu, with Chinese, Japanese and Thai sections.

As a former Chinatown resident, I second the suggestions of Phoenix for dim sum and Lao Sze Chuan for the other times of the day.

A friend just recommended Yen's recently. How is that place? I'm thinking about checking it out next time I'm up there.

My current favorite is Sun Wah BBQ on Argyle, definitely worth checking out.
