Personally, I like Friendship Chinese. It's in Logan Square, and not Chinatown (2830 N. Milwaukee) but that's a good thing, as it's a nice break from your typical Chinese restaurant in terms of decor and service. A lot more hip and upscale in feel than your typical Chinatown eatery. It's also BYOB and (relatively) inexpensive. |

In Chinatown, my favorite is Emperor's Choice. On the North Side, I like Yen's (on Clark just north of Diversey).

Seriously, if you're down south, head to Chi Tung at 95th and Kedzie in Evergreen Park. This is a rare, real Chinese restaurant, not a take out chop suey place. Massive menu, with Chinese, Japanese and Thai sections.

As a former Chinatown resident, I second the suggestions of Phoenix for dim sum and Lao Sze Chuan for the other times of the day.

A friend just recommended Yen's recently. How is that place? I'm thinking about checking it out next time I'm up there. |
