I've gotten burned on the east side of Clark between Division and North during the "rush hour" phase, as well.
Here's my tale o' horror, learn from my stupidity: My job requires that I drive around the city all day, hence I've racked up approx. $988 in parking tickets over a seven month period. I was finally caught by The Booter on Monday while parked on Lasalle in between Eugenie and North. Totally my fault, I should have paid them. What killed me was the fact that I couldn't pay the fine over the phone. Apparently, you have to pay the fine in person at one of eight locations, five of which close at 6:30 (I saw the boot at 6 pm) and the booters stop taking service calls at 6:30. So I had to take the train all the way to Midway airport (one of the 24 hour locations), find this obscure building, pay the tickets and the boot fee ($1,048 total ). Since the booters had stopped taking calls, I would have to wait until 6 AM the following morning to get the boot taken off my car, depending on how many people were ahead of me on The List. To make matters worse, the west side of LaSalle (where I was parked) is a "rush hour" zone from 7 AM - 9AM, so if the boot guy didn't show up by 7, I would be ticketed and towed, costing an additional $250 +. So I sat in my car from 6 AM until the boot guy showed up at 7:45 calling and harassing 311 every 10 minutes. Luckily, no cops or tow truck showed up. Lesson: look for the signs and pay or contest your tickets immmediately.

I called 311 about 7 times and got a different answer each time. One lady said yes, another guy said no. I've lived in Chicago all my life, so I wouldn't put it past them . When I was younger, my father had his car towed from the carport behind our old house (on OUR property), because the city said it was abandoned. He hadn't driven it in two weeks because we were on vacation.

Yea I dont understand how everyone raves about 311, Ive called it a couple times and its just as bad as calling your phone company. You get someone on the phone that clearly doesnt know certain rules and they just tell you anything. I called once to ask if my car was towed and they told me no it was definetly not towed. So I called 911 to report it stolen. Well sure thing I checked the site an hour later and it was in an impound lot.

If my pattern were to be disrupted because of a bunch of stupid hicks and their goddamn football obsession, I would be unduly pissed off.
Keep that **** in the suburbs. It's not even like Chicago has a team that can win, now citizens are supposed to change parking habits?

What? You are missing the point. Why do I have to go out and find out what the schedule is? What if I am a tourist from Japan. Why the h..l would I have to go out of my way at, let's say, two AM and find out the Bears schedule? Let's make it easy for people, why not put as sign that says you can park except for commisioner of parks ex-wife's youngest cousin's birthday?
You guys are defensive to the point thay you would argue that any of Chicago absurdities makes perfect sense. It only reflects on you.
