I agree. He is not a threat to anybody. The best way you hurt rich people is to make them poor. That is what should have happened to him. The government should have taken EVERYTHING from him and his family and left then penniless begging on the street. Maybe he could have got a job cleaning up Wall St at night or maybe he could have lived off $1500 a month in Social Security. Prison is a waste of space for him.

I have never figured that out myself. It should cost 1/2 of that at most.

I think it does depend on what the non violent crime is. Most of these people could be in half way houses that are closely monitored and they would be required to work and pay back the cost of their incarciration. Some like pedophiles should stay jailed because as far as I am concerned that is violence towards children and these guys shouldn't get the chance to do it again.
