Ignorance may be bliss, but knowledge is power. Of course you should discuss anything you want. I don't remember anything in the bible that says one should remain ignorant.
I guess the old bracelets come back to my mind....What would Jesus do? To me when you look at who he talked with and met out on the road, they came from all walks of life and in all different situations. How do you spread the word of God when you can only relate to fellow Christians? I most definitly think we should be involved in what society brings us and relate to it in a Christian manner. When you look at Paris or Nicole, I get very sad. I think they need (needed) someone to care and know they are loved. Here is where I would flash a peace sign
tried to give ya rep points but had to spread them around...
Yes, things should be discussed for the reasons that Padgett, Irish, Dawn, Montana, Jeff, our thread starter, and others have given. Besides, is this question not being asked in a place where we are supposed to discuss such matters?
I sincerely hope so. Dialogue is perhaps the most powerful tool, or gift we have. It is not the exchange and discussion of ideas that frightens me, but rather, the lack thereof...

Here Here! Christians need to be as informed as anyone else,. We were not meant to hide our heads in the sand, but interact with society and be a beckon of light to attract others. As Jesus once said, would you take your lamp and hide it or would you set it out so you and others could see? We need to understand what is going on and set our lights out! Thank you Irish Mom for putting it so well!
To answer your question arguy1973 without being sarcastic, Christians do discuss them. Christians live in the "world" and these things are part of the world. Yes, it does help to be informed of certain things not only so that Christians can discuss them with their children, when the time is appropriate, but to keep each other informed.

Amen. Unfortunately the fundamentalists have interpreted the disdain for the existing "wisdom of man" at the time of Christ to mean reject all of man's accumulated wisdom since. They retain the ancient ignorance of our ancestors and reject modern knowledge as the "wisdom of man."

Is it not written in the Scripture, 'If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house or give him any greeting, for whoever greets him takes part in his wicked works.'?
God does not change. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. The Scripture is just as much truth today as it was 6,000 or 2,000 years ago.
