Amen, pcamps! Christ is the Living Word of God and we do NOT attack Him . . . we follow Him . . . NOT the Bible and its "precepts and doctrines of men."Our focus is on promoting "love of God and each other" daily and repenting when we don't as Christ instructed. All the negativity comes from mistakenly believing the savagery and barbarity in the words "written in ink" in the OT are the 100% inerrant and infallible word of God.

People today have absolutely no conception of the barbaric state of mind of our ancestors. It is inconceivable for a 21st century mind to grasp it. Yes, many of us are capable of barbaric acts largely because of a lack of education and indoctrination into barbaric beliefs about God. But even the most barbaric of us pale in comparison to parents who could toss their baby alive into a fire to appease their God!!!

Amen! The "fruit" is agape love for God and each other." It is unambiguous and constant. It requires no special knowledge or training or scholarship . . . nor does it require us to believe any specific nonsense or fables about God or Jesus. We ALL know what is loving and how to be loving . . . but we do not ALL practice it.

This is a constant and false claim. No one is attacking anyone. The belief that the Bible is the 100% inerrant and infallible word of God is disputed openly because nowhere is it ever claimed to be by Christ. You bemoan not focusing exclusively on what the Bible teaches . . . but this is a CHRISTianity forum . . . NOT a BIBLEianity forum. We focus on Christ and what He unambiguously taught, and demonstrated through His life and death. At no time did He teach that the Bible is the inerrant infallible word of God. He instructed His disciples to follow Him in "love God and each other" daily and repent when they didn't. He did NOT teach them to follow the Bible as if it were God's own truth. He said it was USEFUL. Christ said He abides with us and His Holy Spirit (Comforter) will guide us to the truth God has "written in our hearts" so we would NOT need anyone to teach us . . . and we would not need to rely only on words "written in ink."

I have been on many forums and eventually they get dominated by arrogant, self righteous individuals who can never admit they "might" be wrong and diss everyone else. I suspect it is a ploy to drive people away from genuine discussions of the Bible and what it teaches.
Definitely.

That you for providing evidence in support of my assertion.

I am sure Noah, Abraham, Moses, Isaiah, Daniel, Peter, etc did; right?

A solution might be to simply ignore such posts and discuss subjects with those who respect God's Word and word.

Of course it is an attempt to associate the Bible with ignorance and barbarism.

Yes, it is done in an attempt to derail discussions.

Uganda[edit]

Main article: Child sacrifice in Uganda

In the early 21st century Uganda has experienced a revival of child sacrifice and in spite of government attempts to downplay the issue an investigation by the BBC into human sacrifice in Uganda found that ritual killings of children are more common than Ugandan authorities admit.[21] There are many indicators that politicians and politically connected wealthy businessmen are involved in sacrificing children in practice of traditional religion, which has become a commercial enterprise.[22][23]

Despite increases in knowledge and advances in technology, basic human nature has not changed, has not evolved, has not progressed over the centuries. The belief that it has is a doctrine and precept of . . . well . . . yours!!!

I don't believe it's as black and white as saying "I believe everything in the Bible" considering the mass confusion over interpretation. So yes.

Or perhaps they should break down the religious forum into a fundamentalist/non-fundamentalist forum.

The difference, Mike, is that back then, nobody would have given it a second thought (with the possible exception of the parents), but now most of the world is shocked. No, human nature has not changed, but consciousness most assuredly has.
