Have you ever heard of the expression "perish the thought" ? As a man thinks in his heart so is he. Thinking or entertaining thoughts that salvation is anything to do with being saved from hell then that line of thought is causing you to perish, and I couldn't care less how much you say you believe in Jesus and the Bible, holding that thought you are perishing, you are cut of/alienated "in your mind" from that which sustains us.
What is contrary is what you were taught - as eternal punishment is nowhere to be found.

Just look at one of the most clear and compelling parables our Lord gave on this topic, it's not without a reason these parables and warnings are in the Bible. It is a place of conscious torment, from which there is no passing to heaven, no possible escape. You can shut your eyes and close your ears, but the warnings are serious enough for those that do not have their sins forgiven by the Lord Jesus Christ.
Luke 16:19-31 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. It is not possible for a heart that thinks eternal torment is a reasonable consequence for ANY reason to be resonant with our God who IS agape love. I am so saddened by this knowledge because of my encounter and absolute certainty about the true nature of God.

Nonsense, of course. No one can determine future events just by "thinking real hard". Read the words of Christ, study them and then believe them.

Hey? Who said anything about thinking hard or future events?. The nonsense is you dismiss simple truth's that we are ruled by what we believe, we are what we think we are in our hearts, and we are transformed in our minds by what we think and dwell upon.
