I'm going to assume here you are thanking me about a video I posted on another thread where I thought it made one think. If I'm assuming wrong well no harm done anyways

Helen Keller was a Theosophist, a radical Socialist and an advocate of birth control. If she were alive today she would be vilified by Christians on this very board.
I think people are closer to God than they think. Heck, as far as logically speaking, I think atheists realize a lot of things that most other believers in a god do not. It would make sense that Helen Keller could sense God, as I think everybody, one way or another usually does understand that God exists (although atheists might press hard against this idea, and maybe they've convinced themselves He doesn't exist lol). In fact, I've actually read about a study that suggests that human beings are naturally born with a belief in God (or a Creator). Cool, huh?
I have visited this board maybe only three times before. How bizarre that I found this thread tonight!
Just a few hours ago, as I was putting my just-turned-5 year old to bed, we were talking about praying and he didn't know what to say. I said we could thank Him for something or ask for something and he interrupted to say "or give Him a present."
Me: "A present?"
Him: "Yes. You know the only present you can give God?"
Me: "What?"
Him: "Your heart."
Awww.....I asked him where he had heard that - preschool? Vacation Bible School?
Him: "No. I just know it. I've always known it..all the days...Every day....since I was a baby I knowed it...since zero."
WOW!!!!!!! I needed to get downstairs to write this down!! But first...
Me: "You know why you've always known it? Because it's true. Unfortunately, not everyone has always known it."
Him: "Well, we can just tell them."
Needless to say, he got the chocolate milk he wanted :-)

This is true. If she were posting on here they would be telling her she believes a false gospel ,calling her swine,accuse her of heresy, and throw her into eternal torture. There are others on here that seem to admire certain celebrities and talk as if they were wonderful shining examples of what a person should be(eventhough they lived an ungodly life) out of one side of their mouth. But then turn around and call others swine and throw them into eternal torture. The hypocrisy on here is amazing!

It's funny you point out what Helen was, so what she was a Socialist, God can use anyone.
David stole a man's wife and then sent her husband to die in war, Paul use to murder Christians, but God didn't condemn them.
It is not up to me to judge her for her life, but I was only concerned that she said that she knew God.
I don't support birth control, but we can't make people stop having sex, and she was a supporter of birth control, because in reality babies are going to come into this world.
My moto is not having sex until you get married, but I can't push that on other people. If someone wants to use birth control, then that is there choice.
If a person is a socialist, a civil rights leader or what ever, who am I to judge that person because of the rights that they choice to live by. If they come to know God, then that is the greatest thing there is.
People say that Jesus was a radical because of what He stood for. That being said, the people that were labeling Him a radical were the people who were adding to the problem.
If a murderer, or sex offender comes to know God who are we to judge them, because God says that He is the judge. But sadly people want to hold our past over our head.

The biggie is that she was a follower of Emmanuel Swedenborg's teachings, which denies Christian doctrines such as the Trinity, salvation by faith, and exclusivism. The equivalent could be perhaps Oprah Winfrey, who does believe in God but is plainly "New Age". Oprah as your know has come under much fire for her beliefs from evangelicals. So its a little disingenuous to hold up Miss Keller as a defense for your beliefs when in fact if she were alive now she would be vilified by evangelicals.

I agree nightflIght. A lot of people believe in God. Terrorist believe in God,should we be holding them up on this board as an example..I think not.
