I miss this old Dart with the Slant six engine and was excited to hear that the name was being revived until I saw the new model which looks nothing like the original Dart of the 60s and 70s that had the indestructible slant 6 engine. Not that I'm surprised, but I expected the new Dart to at least be as similar to its vintage counterpart as the Charger and Challengers are to theirs.
Anyway, I'm curious as to what other Mopar enthusiasts think of the new dart and how they think it stacks up to the original.
the only car that chrysler has that resembles the vintage cars at all is the challenger(pretty well done imo). remember in the old days there was NO four door charger, that was two door only. and personally i dont want the new dart to resemble the old one, as the old one was rather boring looking. it would have been better to revive the duster or demon name instead.
The original Dart was Dodge's economy car which has a performance version. This Dart is Dodge's economy car. It has very good MPG and good handling (thanks to it's FIAT heritage). It may get a performance version, but why bother? In this economy, there isn't the if demand for performance compact cars like there once was. Those who desired such compacts either moved up to bigger and better cars, can't afford to buy a new car, or just can't justify paying the nearly $25,000 or more for a performance compact when they can get a similiarly priced midsize sedan with options thrown in. Some of the young people who would normally be the target crowd for such a vehicle just don't seem to be that interested in even driving or getting a driver's license. From a safety, handling, and fuel economy stand point, the new Dart is much better than both the Caliber and the old Dart. Then again, it's not a Dodge. It's an Alfa Romeo Giulietta.

If they would have just called it a Neon, I would be more accepting.
Plus, I saw a regular white one the other day. Unless it's got that black on the front bumper, there's really no ...lines (?) in the front end. I can't explain it. Just bland.

While they are nothing alike. One of the best days of my life was destroying a Dodge Dart. Loved every second of it.
