That just drives me crazy. I love where I live but if you select this area be sure and avoid the dangerous area. Do you have signs hanging out "Dangerous Area"?

Would be about enough to make me move elsewhere. In fact it was!

I think you just rely on common sense, street smarts, and thoughtful application of crime stats to figure out decent places versus not-so-decent. It would be hard for someone not from the area, though. It's hard to think of many places that are truly "dangerous," though a couple streets in avondale come to mind.

^^ Wish I actually knew an accurate definition of street smarts. A lot of people refer to them, but I have never seen a qualitative or quantitative definition of the meaning.

Believe I will prefer to live in a location where street smarts is not conidered a requirement of every day life, especially since I cannot actually define it. Would hate to be living in an environment I cannot even identify.

Apparently if you do not possess enough street smarts, there are areas of this City you should avoid like the plague.

So for those of you possessing these nebulous street smarts, please inform the large contingent of us without them how to obtain and acquire them, as we are obviously desperately in need.

I'll break it down for you.

Anywhere you see men on the corner who are not waiting for a bus, any place that people are sitting on the porch in wife beater tee-shirts, any place you see a car up on blocks, where there is a line waiting to get into a bodega, or on any street named after an athlete, civil rights leader or murder victim, or any place that has colorful pictures of diverse children playing painted on the walls of buildings, is a place you will need your street smarts and your CC.

How did Norwood get talked about again when OP chose a place in Mariemont?

OP...have you made the move yet? If so, how is life in Mariemont treating you?

If you like beer, get over to 50 West Brewing Company...it's a fantastic Microbrewery.

There's an APP for that:

New app will keep you away from 'sketchy' areas

Launching on Friday, SketchFactor allows users to report on, read about and navigate around potentially unsafe neighborhoods.

Thanks for the examples, though I expect they are not exhaustive. Sounds like if you have not acquired a great deal of street smarts make the CC a close pal.
