Lol guys, fake lakes? Is the water made out of plastic?

Don't discount man-made lakes. The water is just as real as any other body of water. For instance, many of the Southern man-made lakes have some pretty nice sportsfishing that some "real lakes" can only dream about.

I have to agree with some of the above posters. Man made lakes area a joke. They don't have the natural scenery, character and beauty of real lakes. They in no way compare to places like MI, MN, NY, OH, WI, etc.

Here is a photo of Goat Lake in the Sawtooth Mountains, Idaho. It is great example of a smaller alpine glacial lake high up in the mountain peaks.

This is the link for the photo:

Candlewood Lake, the largest lake in Connecticut, is an example of a man-made lake. In other words it was a valley that was damned back in the 1920s. It is still a pretty nice lake and I would not be suprised if many people think it is entirely natural.

BTW great photo ToHobitPeak.

Candlewood looks more natural. So I would agree with your statement. Just from my viewing.

I love alpine lakes too. They're amazing and beautiful It's just that most people in the states with them only get to experience them a handful of times a year cause they're so far out of the way. Lakes in the upper Midwest are just a much more a part of everyday life. I mean, Minneapolis has ten lakes in its city boundries (as well as a river and a very large creek with a large waterfall but that's irrelevant to this discussion). Almost everywhere in the Twin Cities is within five minutes walking distance of a lake and it's almost impossible to go on any kind of decent length car ride without passing one or more. To get to mountain lakes most people need to go quite a bit out of their way and make an purpose to do so.

Damn that is cool I never thought "MAN MADE" lakes existed. That one poster from MN was just bashing out on the Desert Southwest and Southern Lakes being man made. I was like WTF, lol. Lakes I see everyday are natural, never would have though.
