When I say after parties I don't mean the ones that clubs put on I mean the ones that people at the clubs put on at hotels and houses that go crazy until the sun comes up.
That can be said about miami too most of the hotels on north and south miami beach have night life options in hotels but there not used as after hour spots there are no need to have after hours spots when the nightlife is damn near 24 hours House parties are common in every city thats not adding anything out the ordinary.. hell I do that here in Atlanta
LOL you wish bro, explaining Houston is quite simple, take DFW minus the amusement parks and set in southeastern Texas, BAM! You have Houston
Well while I disagree with much of what MM says, he has a littpe bit of a point here. North and Northeast Houston metro with the tree canopy can remind you of Atlanta. Houston is more like Southwest Louisiana than New Orleans. But both Houston and NO are port cities with hints of Cajun cultures in it. I wouldn't doubt if Houston actually had more. New Orleans is actually more creole. The set up for Houston is similar to LA. It's spread out, wide avenues, gridded, multiple changes in topography within the metro, palm trees though Its more abundant in LA than Houston. Skyline silhouette is similar as well. That's it between Houston and LA. Miami weather and Houston weather are really NOT similar. Miami is tropical. Houston is sun tropical. But my mom born and raised in Miami likes Houston better than Dallas because she said Hoiston reminds her if her hometown.
Houston metro looks more like DFW metro than any other metro in the nation. But the feel of it is gulf coast unmistakably. DFW is nothing like that. I will say this, I only consider pretty much inner loop 610 in Houston and inner loop 12 in Dallas to be city like. These two areas look nothing alike.

This is a good post, but to simplify things I would say its DFW by the gulf, if anyone has driven through both metros their's no denying it
I can see the stark differences in Dallas vs Houston. Houston has more Spanish-style architecture. Parts of Houston seem more "Suburban Florida-ish". Other parts have the typical Southern, Brick homes, layout. Others seem distinctly Texan with the Limestone style-homes.
Dallas looks more like what you see in Northern Louisiana and Arkansas as well as Western Mississippi a small bit. Houston looks like a gulf coast city. It does indeed remind me of parts of suburban Florida. A couple Miami posters mentioned this on another board. I can easily see the difference as well myself.
