Houston reminds me alot of Atlanta and Florida (Orlando) mixed together. I guess I can say it resembles LA skyline wise. I still don't see the Miami comparison though.

Los Angeles doesn't remind me of Houston or Miami. Especially Houston. Maybe some of the plants but that's about it.

Honestly, what makes it a dump? I know it's not your preference and you prefer older more urban cities. Houston is a gritty city in most aspects. Kind of a reminder to Great Lakes cities in many parts. In fact, more grittier than most sunbelt cities. But what makes it a dump? It's suburban development and/or weather?

I disagree.

Houston & LA's skylines resemble each other just as NYC's & Chicago's do.

"Hundreds of thousands" of people relocate to Houston annually?

LOL so do the skylines of Cleveland and Charlotte but I never see those cities being compared as similar, Houston does not, and will not resemble LA, no matter how much you wish it would.

Houston had an increase last year of ~125K people, of which I believe ~65K (still very substantial)were transplants or Int'l immigrants. The remainder are the net of the births/deaths. Something that people don't realize is that the growth due to natural increase is as large a driver in Houston. Compare that with say a Boston or Philly where there were more deaths than births and a natural population decrease on this aspect.

In the next 17 years Houston is projected to add 2.66 million people. Those aren't small numbers we're dealing with.
