Agreed. I just think it is interesting how people make blanket statements about it being better. You know why people like Seattle though? The puget sound, and Mt. Rainer, Olympic national park, San juan islands are some of the coolest places in the country, low crime, high rise culture, etc. The ATL is far away from being Seattle

Buckhead is a strip ( a long one as you or someone else pointed out) Buckhead is where the burbs meet the city Many people love it and that is totally fine but as a city Atlanta is not there yet for what I prefer. As a metro has come a long way but to me still leaves some on the city part. Again I like it but its not quite there on the city for me personally
I agree. That's something Atlanta struggles on. You can't just get lost in the city because the actual urbanized part isn't that big or cohesive like the big 6 urban cities in the country. I also like the direction Midtown is going though. I enjoy walks on Peachtree from Downtown to the northern end of Midtown. A nice 2-3 mile walk of non-stop urbanity.

Out of the four major cities in the NE/Mid Atlantic(Boston, NYC, D.C., and Philly), Philly ranks last. That's why the Philly boosters constantly have to whine "It's underrated!". When you have to use a mega city to boost up your city(in this case, NYC), clearly your city isn't as great as you think it is.
LOL. Yet Philadelphia is a helluvalot better than Sprawlanta.

Boston and DC do things better, yet Philadelphia does things better.

What does Atlanta do better than Philadelphia? Sprawl I guess.... that's about it.

I disagree. Stagnant? Right now a nearly 1,200 foot tall skyscraper - the tallest in the entire US outside of New York and Chicago - is under construction in Philadelphia. Right now another 50 story skyscraper is under construction in University City as they are completing a 33 story one just a block is nearly completed.

No disrespect to Miami, Dallas or Atlanta but as a cultural city Philadelphia is far superior.

-- The Philadelphia Orchestra (one of "Top Five" - look it up in Wikipedia) and the Philadelphia Pops are much finer than any of the other cities mentioned.

-- Our art museums are way more important (in fact with the opening of the Barnes Museum and the expansion of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the Philadelphia Art Museum, Philly has a larger and better collection of European Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, and Fauvist masterpieces than even New York or Washington ... more in fact than any city outside Paris, France).

-- It is a city of outstanding architecture including structures by Samuel Sloan, Frank Furness, Horace Trumbauer, Louis I. Kahn, Frank Lloyd Wright, Cesar Pelli, etc.

-- The Philadelphia area has the best gardens in the country. Longwood Gardens was ranked #1 in all of North America and the Morris Arboretum is one of the top botanical gardens in the country. There are also Bartram's Garden (oldest botanical garden in North America), Chanticleer Gardens, and the Japanese Garden in Fairmount Park.

It's ironic when someone thinks Atlanta is a "snooze fest" but loves Atlanta forums.

RightonWalnut is a fanatical booster...oh god...that picture of the tweet is cringeworthy. And Philly is finally getting it's first supertall...Atlanta had one for what? 20+ years? When it was a 2.5 million people metro. Yawn.
