City: NY>DC>Philly>Chicago>Boston

Metro: DC>NY>Philly>Chicago>Boston

I’m going to lean towards DC by a hair over NY.

DC's not anybody's utopia, it has the same issues that many other major cities regarding creating racial balance and equality across it's region, as this is an American issue.

With that said DC still probably leads, or is close to the head of the pack of this group, and especially in it's suburbs. New York City is up there simply being the most diverse here, but as mentioned is not untouchable on race relations at all either.

None of these cities are great examples of positive race relations in the US.

Boston and Chicago are interchangeable. But I agree with this, both city and metro.

Does Boston at least get a “most improved” award?

I'm not sure how we objectively evaluate race relations. Boston obviously has a bad reputation when it comes to Black White relations. But, in my relatively limited experience Asian/White/Hispanic relations don't seem to be uniquely bad relative to other cities.

With the way the NYPD targets Black people, I am puzzled why so many people keep picking NYC. I would deal with MPD over NYPD any day of the way and MPD aint great. NYC has a lot of tensions.

You are 100% correct on DC not being anybody's utopia.

None of these cities/metros are winning any awards for race relations, so I find it a little silly to rank them.

The major cities of the East Coast (plus Chicago), while diverse, are still incredibly segregated by race and class overall.
