I would pick Houston because of the southern atmosphere, the great black culture, the diversity, the size, the things to do, etc.

Austin is nice as well, but the area severely lags behind Houston is terms of diversity, though.

Lived in DFW previously and currently in Houston.

If I couldn't live in one of these two, I'd leave Texas. The others are just two small. Both Houston and Dallas are very diverse (Houston more so), have lots of things to do, shopping, eating, etc. They are great bang for your buck cities.

I agree with Mr Jello.

Houston or DFW or somewhere out of state.

The others are just not bid enough/diverse enough (amenity rich) for me..

El Paso would probably be a never for me.
Austin would be next to least likely.

San Antonio I lived in and I can tell you it is the biggest small town I have ever lived in. I hated the lack of amenities.

I mean I could do Austin. In fact, it's third on my list. I had it second when I was younger. But I'm with the both of you too. Houston or DFW for me.

I don't want to hijack the thread, but this judgment can be taken as valid, especially with it coming from someone from one of the most southern states.

El Paso, and it's not even close. Houston and Dallas have more jobs and major airport hubs, Austin has the music scene, but El Paso seems to have them all beat what with the unique coolness that the city could offer to fit my vibe.

-western culture
-tolerable, down-to-earth people somewhat free of the regular American cultural tendencies
-dry/arid desert-y climate
-woodlands/mountains within 2 hours drive for hiking
-no state income tax
-affordable housing
-nice architectural housing designs
-attractive, feminine Mexican women
-close to Mexico and more Mexican women
-AAA baseball team
-people still know what hardcore country music is

For me it would be....
Houston-- Live here and know the city well enough to get home from almost every street as long as I can get on a highway or major surface street(Studied maps for hours).
Austin-- Love North Austin and it's North burbs also love West Austin burbs only wish it has about 1.5 million more in the metro. For me has some of the best suburbs in Texas, and I like living in the burbs although I have lived in the middle of cities before.
Dallas-- Huge city although not as diverse as Houston it has really nice burbs like Cedar Hill and North Dallas in general also Rockwall.
El Paso-- Don't know much about the city but like Mexican Culture/Food, I would also like to see if El Paso has several Mexican cultures available instead of just general Mexican culture. and love the fact that it is literally a few hours from a very interesting country.
San Antonio-- Tied with El Paso, like SA, but I don't know much about the burbs and besides the center of town don't know of any nice areas although I have been to the city nearly as much as I have been to Austin. If I knew more about the city outside of Downtown/Riverwalk which is one of the most impressive urban areas in Texas, I would probably rank it higher on my list.

Probably Houston. It has the best economy I believe, also as of Asian descent I feel I'd fit in more in Houston, I give it the edge as the most international city in Texas.

All of them accept maybe El Paso. I love Dallas and Houston. Haven't really explored San Antonio much. And I haven't been to Austin yet, but it seems like somewhere I could live comfortably.
